For my binding I chose to use the ‘simplified’ binding.
The cover design was inspired by one of the collections found in the book that immediately caught my eye – an old slatted cupboard door plastered with various colourful bits of ephemera.
Book boards were beveled, shaped and covered with a lightweight Degener black Cave paper and onlayed with bark veneer. The colourful collage features a historic collection of stamps from Newfoundland most of which date back to 1919. To complete the cover I screen printed the title with black ink.
Italian lamb leather was used for the spine and the rolled end bands. Black and cream honeycomb decorative paper was used for the flexible fly leaves and doublures.
